Taxi prices in China are going to be a pleasant surprise to almost all of you, Taxi prices in the PRC vary from city to city but will be a pleasant surprise to almost all of you, they are comparatively low. The type and state of the vehicle can however vary a lot too and many are not very big.
Taxis have clear taxi signs on the roof, are metered and issue a receipt. Their low price makes the taxi very popular and therefore you may have to Q-up a little while during peak hours or heavy rain despite the large number, it does however remain convenient.
Since many taxi-drivers do not speak English very well, if at all, make sure you have the name and/or description of your destination at hand and a telephone number of a Chinese speaker at your destination in case things are not going well. Though there are always exceptions to be found most taxi drivers will be honest and try to be helpful.
