If you have 'worked' in the PRC for more than 183 days in a year (half a year) you you will have to pay 'Individual Income Tax' or IIT. This income tax has to be paid to the tax bureau in the area you are working. There are penalties for late filing but these can be negotiated down if you can offer good reasons.
Since this is Individual tax you can file it as a person, the tax system is not incredibly complicated, but taxes are not low and it may be wise to have it done by a local account, or an international one with a local office. Make sure you get your tax receipts, you may need those as proof of payment, both in China and your home-country.
The PRC has several tax-treaties in place to avoid double taxation, Let's hope you have a good P&O department that looks at these things but if want or need to check some things yourself look at our Tax links.
