David B. Sutton, President of The Antaeus Organization (TAO), is a human ecologist dedicated to life-long learning about the Earth's essential life-support systems, and the intimate connection between the health of the planet and its people. Certified in Permaculture Design, he has created strategies and applications for clients such as The Montreux Group's International MetaResorts, Salk'a Waiki Institute, Programa Munda Maya and the International Institute for Ecological Agriculture. For twenty years, he has developed socially and environmentally responsible educational programs and ecological approaches to product design, conservation, sustainable development, and integral health efforts throughout the world. He is currently a principal with TaoConsulting in Shanghai, specializing in innovative cross-cultural communications and training. With TaoTravel he leads excursions throughout China's magnificent Karst country and he is the host of M.A.G.I.C. (Multicultural Activities Generating International Community) Events in Shanghai.

Dr. Sutton holds advanced degrees in Biology, Art, Population Ecology and Environmental Science. Since 1970, he has taught over fifty courses in biology, technology transfer, resource Conservation and future studies at Stanford University, the University of California, California State University and other Bay Area Colleges. At Stanford, he lectured on international conservation and development issues and directed the Human Biology internship program and environmental education activities. His Stanford courses include: "Environmental Decision Making (HB41); "Resource Use in the Third World" (HB141); "Culture and Conservation" (HB145), and the Stanford Alumni Seminar in India and Nepal (Jan.'89). He is was a principal instructor in the training of trainers for Sweden's, The Natural Step in the USA.

Dr. Sutton's program development and management experience includes serving as Director of Program Development for the John Muir Institute for Environmental Studies, where he developed federally funded (HEW/OE) environmental education curriculum materials. He has consulted on large research projects for the US Dept. of Education, US Dept. of Energy (DOE), US Agency for International Development, ARCO, and Charles F. Kettering Foundation, Carnegie Foundation, Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development, American Institutes for Research in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford Research Institute, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and others. As Director of Public Information and Education for DOE's Western Regional Solar Energy Center (WesternSUN), where he supervised a staff of 14 and managed over a million dollars of federal funds, he was responsible for public information, educational, and publishing programs for the thirteen western states.

Dr. Sutton has worked throughout the Americas, Western Europe, Tropical Asia and East Africa. He was the Safari Ecologist on photo safaris to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda,and Zanzibar; he organized and led expeditions to India, Sikkim, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Costa Rica, and Peru. He has been engaged as a lecturer on a cruise circling South America and has rercorded programs on the Queen Elizabeth 2, The " Dynasty Express"(China), and the "Palace on Wheels" (Rajasthan, India). He founded Antaeus Expeditions, now TAOTravel, to provide first-hand experience of the world's unique natural environments, wildlife, human cultures, and international efforts to preserve them. As an independent producer, Mr. Sutton has created multi-media public information and education programs for publishing companies and the travel industry. His AudioGeographic is an audio magazine series with supplemental educational materials.

Dr. Sutton has written extensively in the fields of environmental biology and resource conservation. In addition to some forty articles and papers, he has published Ecology: Selected Concepts, a pioneering overview of ecological systems (john Wiley and Sons, 1973), Fundamentos de Ecologia (Limusa, Mexico, 1995) and is completing another text entitled: The Flight of the Eagle and the Condor: The Scientific and Spiritual Basis of Sustainability.

Dr. Sutton serves on the board of the Society for Human Ecology, The International Institute for Ecological Agriculture and the Pacific Vintage Group and on the scientific advisory board of the Peninsula Conservation Center, is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Institute for Human Ecology. He is a certified Open Water Scuba Diver and a member of the Ecological Society of America; Sigma Xi; California Academy of Sciences; Bombay Natural History Society; Natural History Society of Siam, and The Ecotourism Society. He has been included in the Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the Frontiers of Science and Technology.

Personal Note:
I am an active, energetic, enthusiastic person, an avid basketball player and dancer in excellent health. An obdurate dreamer and old-fashion romantic and idealist, I continue my life-long journey as disciple of the Raja of Coochnai, Salk'a Waiki brother of Peru's mystical Q'ero, Don Kyhote-"The Universal Curmudgeon," and his alter-ego, Light Dancer, in his search for the "Silver Lining," and now as Sha Le Ming with his "Dispatch from China" and Dance of Life on the path of "celestial knight" in China.
